Cupping Therapy to Support Movement & Recovery

Cupping is a technique that uses specialized cups placed on the skin to create gentle suction. The suction lifts the skin and superficial tissue, creating a pulling sensation in the treated area.

In physical therapy, cupping may be used alongside exercise, movement training, and other treatment techniques to address muscle discomfort and help patients work toward improved mobility and function.

Cupping is not right for everyone. Your physical therapist will discuss whether it may be appropriate for your needs, including potential side effects such as temporary circular marks, skin irritation, or bruising.
